Honey Butter Biscuits with Sunflower Honey

Ingredients :

To make these soft and tender biscuits, you’ll need 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon salt for the dry mix. For the wet ingredients, use 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter (cut into cubes), 2/3 cup cold milk, and 2 tablespoons raw Sunflower Honey. For the honey butter glaze on top, mix 2 tablespoons softened butter with 1 tablespoon raw Sunflower Honey.

How to Make :

Step 1 – Preheat your oven and prepare the tray
Begin by preheating your oven to 425°F (220°C). This high temperature will help the biscuits rise quickly and get a light, golden top. Line a baking tray with parchment paper or lightly grease it with oil or butter. Set it aside so it’s ready when the biscuits are shaped.

Step 2 – Mix the dry ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, add 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Stir these ingredients together with a spoon or whisk to ensure the baking powder is evenly distributed throughout the flour. This helps create a consistent rise and structure in the biscuits.

Step 3 – Cut cold butter into the flour
Take 1/2 cup of cold unsalted butter, cut into small cubes. Add it into the dry flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter, fork, or your fingertips, gently press and rub the butter into the flour until the mixture starts to resemble coarse crumbs. There should still be small sized pieces of butter — these will melt in the oven and create flakiness.

Step 4 – Mix the wet ingredients
In a separate small bowl or measuring cup, mix 2/3 cup of cold milk with 2 tablespoons of raw Sunflower Honey. Stir gently until the honey dissolves into the milk. The mixture should be slightly sweet and smooth.

Step 5 – Bring the dough together
Pour the honey-milk mixture into the flour and butter mixture. Using a spatula or wooden spoon, stir everything just until combined. The dough will be slightly sticky and soft. Avoid overmixing — this step should be quick to keep the biscuits tender.

Step 6 – Shape and cut the biscuits
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Gently press and pat it into a rectangle about 3/4-inch thick. Use a round biscuit cutter or an upside-down glass to cut out circles of dough. Collect and gently press together the scraps to cut more biscuits. You should get 8 to 10 biscuits total.

Step 7 – Bake the biscuits
Place the cut biscuits onto the prepared baking tray, spacing them slightly apart. Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the tops are puffed and just beginning to turn golden brown. The bottoms should also be lightly golden when done.

Step 8 – Prepare the honey butter glaze
While the biscuits are baking, combine 2 tablespoons of softened butter with 1 tablespoon of raw Sunflower Honey in a small bowl. Stir until smooth and creamy. This glaze will add shine, flavor, and a light sweetness to the finished biscuits.

Step 9 – Glaze and serve
As soon as the biscuits come out of the oven, brush the warm tops generously with the honey butter glaze using a pastry brush or the back of a spoon. The heat from the biscuits will melt the glaze, creating a glossy, flavorful topping. Let them cool slightly before serving.
